The Women’s Success Center (WSC) will be featuring “RBG,” a documentary that highlights the life of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the second woman ever to be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Both screenings will be held in the Fulton Library, room 120, on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
“Justice Ginsberg’s life story is one that anyone in our community can relate to. ‘RBG’ tells the story of one woman’s passion for family, education, and career, and how her work has shaped our society,” said Tara Ivie, senior director of WSC.
The advancement of women’s rights has been credited to Ginsburg’s historical rulings.
At each film screening, speakers and Elaine Englehardt will discuss the importance of Ginsburg and the work she did after attending law school. They will set historical context for the world she was entering and what she was fighting — she finished at the top of her class from Columbia Law School and, still, no one would hire her. When she finally got a job, they told her they were going to pay her less because her husband had a good job.
“At the Women’s Success Center, we believe that strong family bonds and professional goals and passions build and support one another. We like to share stories of women who are doing exactly that,” said Ivie.
