UVU's Symphonique presents all-in-one show with music, hip-hop, aerial dancers, and more

Utah Valley University’s School of the Arts, in conjunction with Aeris Aerial dancers and Millennium Dance SLC, is proud to present Symphonique. The performance will be held in the Mountain View High School auditorium on March 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Symphonique is a show that, in its entirety, has not been performed on any other collegiate campus. UVU has brought together voices, a rock band, brass, an orchestra, percussion, hip-hop dancers, ballet, and aerial dancers all in one show. In an effort to create an engaged learning experience for students, the planning process put students front and center. Students designed the sets and lighting, created motion graphics, wrote music, and will perform in and manage the show.

Todd Sorenson, artist in residence at UVU said, “The goal is to make [Symphonique] a professional show that will help these students transition into the entertainment business. It helps us bridge the gap between education and the professional world they will work in.” Sorenson has also reached out in the community to bring UVU and the performers in the community together.

Symphonique is about the making of a symphony — not a traditional symphony, but one that combines light and sound, air and space, movement and human voice. The show will highlight each element of the symphony individually, but at the end will come together to create something magical.

The performances will be held in the Mountain View High School auditorium on Mach 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $10 for the general public, and free for students and children.
