Utah Valley University’s Marketing Association recently competed against 429 other
American Marketing Association chapters. UVU placed fifth out of the 429 AMA chapters
from around the nation.
The American Marketing Association is a network of over 30,000 members who work, teach, and study the latest in marketing trends. There are 76 professional chapters and 250 collegiate chapters across the United States.
For the 2017-2018 school year, UVU AMA set a goal to be ranked as a top 10 chapter in the nation by the American Marketing Association. UVUAMA was ranked fifth out of 429 AMA chapters from around the nation, and were awarded $7,400 in prize money for winning various competitions.
Some of the competitions that won cash for the team were:
- The UVUAMA won fifth best overall AMA chapter in the nation by the American Marketing Association, winning $1,000.
- Digital marketing students Kelsi Brydon, Sydney House, Mitch Howell, Kenzie Middleton, and Corbin White took first place in their competition over56 other schools.
- Senior Tyler Hemmert and and junior Sierra Nelsonwon $900 for first place in marketing strategy over 99 other competing students.
- Corbin White, ajunior indigital marketing, won first place in the perfect pitch competition, beating out 200 other students.
- Senior Eric Rivas won second place, beating out 56 other competitors in the ABC Supply AMA sales competition.
- White alsotook second place in the AMA Social Impact category and earned a $2,000 scholorship.
- Nelson won second place in the AMA EBSCO Marketing Scholarship.
Mary Case also won an honorable mention. The UVUAMA SABRE team took seventh place and seven students made it to the semi-final round.
