Utah Valley University’s School of the Arts, in conjunction with UVU Opera, presents “Die Like a Diva.” The performance will be held in Centre Stage on April 27, at 7:30 p.m.
“Die Like a Diva,” is a compilation of the five greatest death scenes in all of opera. Metropolitan Opera star and television personality, Anthony Laciura, will narrate the scenes while students perform. Finales from “La Traviata,” “La Boheme,” “Werther,” “Madama Butterfly,” and “Don Giovanni,” will be sung by UVU’s top opera students.
Isaac Hurtado, assistant professor of voice and director of opera at UVU said, “What stands out about this performance are the incredible high notes. Our singers in this production provide vocal eruptions one after another in some of the most passionate music ever written.” Hurtado suggests this event is a must see and “should not be missed!”
The performance will be held in Centre Stage on April 27, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $5 for students and $10 for the general public.
