Utah Valley University’s School of the Arts, in conjunction with the Department of
Dance, will present “Ballroom Dance in Concert”.The performances will be held in the Ragan Theater in the Sorensen Student Center
on April 20-21 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on April 21 at 2 p.m.
“Ballroom Dance in Concert,”will feature nearly 100 dancers of all levels including UVU’s award winning tour team as they prepare to return to ballroom’s biggest international competition in Blackpool, England this May.
The tour team hopes to add a fifth world title to their list of awards at this year’s competition in the UK. “Ballroom Dance in Concert,” will feature choreography by faculty members Chris Witt, Tara Boyd, and Chris Williams, who have won national and world championship competitions.
Said Chris Williams, director of the tour team, “This is a great, family friendly event that continues a long tradition of ballroom dance concerts held each semester at UVU.” He noted that all of the performers are UVU students and each puts in between eight to fifteen hours of rehearsal each week. “Audiences can expect exciting new routines and up close and personal encounters wth the dancers at this concert,” said Williams.
The performances for “Ballroom Dance in Concert” will be held in the Ragan Theater in the Sorensen Student Center on April 20-21 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on April 21 at 2 p.m.. Tickets for the event are $15 for the general public, $10 for students, $8 for seniors, and $5 for children ages 3-18. Special pricing is available for groups of ten or more. Tickets will have assigned seating and are expected to sell out.
