Utah Valley University is sending out its largest group of interns to Washington, D.C., and New York City.

This summer semester, 13 of its brightest students will embark on their once in a lifetime internship experience in those two cities. This semester’s interns come from various educational backgrounds, pursuing degrees in political science, financial planning, math, computer science, aviation administration, behavioral science, journalism and graphic design.

“It is really exciting,” said Mallory Oliverson, high impact/government internship coordinator at UVU. “We only send out the best of the best. They have been so awesome. UVU is building a name for itself. It has been fun to see.”

The students who will be representing UVU include: Andre Jones (Senator Orrin Hatch), Gerika Ballard (SBSB Wealth Advisory services), James Nielsen (Senator Orrin Hatch), Addison Adams (FBI), Emily Addison (FBI), Aaron John Organ (American Association of Airport Executives), Tyler Keetch (Congressman Chris Stewart), Tuvae Nerveza (Congresswoman Mia Love), Preston Parry (Capital Research Center), Kayla Cook (Forest Hills Assisted Living Center), Mitchell Riley (HAF-A10 Pentagon Air Force Headquarters), McKenzie Stauffer (Thatcher & Co.), and Sara McNeil (Good Housekeeping Magazine).

When asked about what interning in Washington, D.C. means to him, Andre Jones, intern with Senator Orrin Hatch, said, “I would describe it as an extremely engaging experience. It’s a new world out here, and it helps fast track your learning on how government works.”
