Congratulations to Ryan Law, director of UVU’s UCCU Money Management Resource Center, for a tremendous professional honor and to the students he recently coached to victory at the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) Knowledge Bowl.

Law was named the recipient of the 2021 AFCPE Distinguished Fellow Award. The award is one of the AFCPE’s highest accolades and recognizes significant and long-lasting contributions to the AFCPE over many years. Award recipients must exhibit the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct throughout their careers.

The award was kept a secret until it was presented. Law said he was surprised and honored. Dr. Norman Wright, dean of the Woodbury School of Business, said the award was not entirely unexpected, however.

“Ryan is thoroughly deserving of this award, and this award came as a surprise to absolutely nobody in the industry,” Wright said. “Perhaps the only surprise is that he is not named every year as the national winner of this prestigious recognition.”

Law said he is grateful to join the select group of other AFCPE Fellows and for those who have brought him to this point in his career.

“A special thanks goes out to the AFCPE staff, board of directors, and many former teachers, mentors, and my students over the years who continue to inspire me every day,” Law said.

Ryan Law and his students continue to inspire all of us. They recently took first place in the 2021 AFCPE Knowledge Bowl. Law’s team (Alisa Nguyen, Kayla Greer, and Davis Allen) competed against six finalist schools in the annual Knowledge Bowl Competition, including teams from the University of Missouri, Utah State University, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Kansas State University, Texas Tech University, and University of Georgia. The University of Georgia finished second, with Texas Tech coming in third.
