Dr. David McEntire of the UVU Emergency Services Department weighed in on the financial website WalletHub’s “2021’s Safest Cities in America” study published on Oct. 5, 2021. Comparing 182 U.S. cities across 44 indicators of safety, WalletHub created a comprehensive list of America’s safest cities.

Following the study, WalletHub enlisted a panel of experts to discuss the findings and factors that impact the safety of a community (e.g., traffic fatalities, natural disasters, law enforcement employees, hate crimes, uninsured population, COVID-19 vaccinations). Dr. McEntire was among the experts asked to answer questions relating to a city’s indicators of safety.

McEntire contributed suggestions relating to the most salient safety topics, such as natural disaster cleanup, law enforcement and public trust, and vaccine rollout.
