The School of Education at Utah Valley University (UVU) will hold its inaugural MakerCon conference on Nov. 8 in the Young Living Alumni Center and McKay Education buildings, and Nov. 9 in the Sorensen Student Center on UVU’s Orem Campus.
MakerCon is for educators and community makers who want to explore innovative ways to integrate hands-on, project-based learning into their curriculum, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in students. Attendees will have access to a dynamic lineup of workshops, keynote speakers, hands-on activities, and exhibitions featuring local creators.
The registration fee for Nov. 8 is $49 and has been created for teachers (K-12 and beyond), school administrators, curriculum developers, education technology specialists, librarians, media specialists, STEM/STEAM coordinators, and art educators. The Nov. 9 session is free to the public and has been designed for K-12 students, educators, librarians, makers, and all those who want to attend.
“We are so excited to provide this opportunity for educators, makers, and K-12 students to learn about and experience maker learning and Makerspaces at the upcoming UVU MakerCon,” says Krista Ruggles, the event organizer.
