Dear UVU Students, Faculty, and Staff,
There was a police presence on UVU West Campus yesterday afternoon. A woman in the National Guard Building called the UVU police dispatch, threatened self-harm, claimed to have a gun, and asked for help. UVU police officers responded immediately and contained the person while simultaneously evacuating the building. No gun was involved, and the individual was taken into custody. We know such incidences can cause concern. If you need additional support, please contact Student Health Services at 801-863-8876 or visit Room 221 in the Sorensen Student Center. If you need after-hours support, call or text 988. Faculty and staff can also call or text 988 or access the Employee Assistance Program. Your safety is always of the utmost importance, and we take any credible threat seriously. Sincerely, Matt Pedersen Chief, Utah Valley University Police Department |
