Utah Valley University has been designated a Top 10 Military Friendly School by Military Friendly, an organization that measures a school or company’s commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful opportunities for the military community.

Military Friendly uses public data sources, proprietary data acquired by conducting surveys, and personal data from surveys of veterans to measure across categories including academic policies and compliance, admissions and orientation, culture and commitment, financial aid and assistance, graduation and career, and military student support and retention.

According to Military Friendly’s methodology, UVU earned a Gold rating and is ranked fifth in the nation in the Large Public university category.

“On behalf of UVU, the Veteran Success Center team is thrilled to receive the 2023-24 Gold (Top 10) Military Friendly® School designation and to be ranked #5 in the nation among large public universities,” said Kayle Smith, interim director of UVU Veteran Success Center. “This recognition reflects many hours invested by our team and other UVU partners to create an exceptional experience for our military-connected students.”

UVU’s Veteran Success Center facilitates the successful navigation of student veterans, service members, and their dependents from registration to graduation. The center first opened its doors in 2015 and currently assists around 800 military veteran students and 2,400 military dependents in utilizing their military benefits to fund their education at UVU.

“An exceptional experience, to us, means that students want to come to UVU, stay here, complete their education goals, and ultimately transition to gainful employment in a field that they enjoy, without unnecessary or unreasonable financial burden,” Smith said. “This Military Friendly® School designation represents our progress in these areas, and we look forward to taking additional strides to advance the UVU military-connected experience.”
