Tech-Moms co-founder and CEO Trina Limpert addressed a crowd of over 150 during the Women to Women Mentorship networking event held on March 28 at the Utah Valley University (UVU) Sorensen Center. Limpert was the event’s keynote speaker, where UVU students and employees sought career mentorship from influential women in their respective industries.
"I learned early on it isn’t an ‘either or’; life is an ‘and,’” Limpert said during her remarks. “You can love fashion, design, and engineering and be good at it all. You can also have a family and a career."
Attendees had the opportunity to network and receive counsel from one of nine women-mentors during the event. UVU biochemistry major Kayla Knaperek spent 20 minutes developing a pitch template for her new educational support business she purchased.
“I loved how the event was organized,” Knaperek said. “UVU provides ample opportunities for students to forge mentorship and research if they are willing to look for them. All my professors have been so kind and take the time to meet with me. It's obvious to me that the faculty here at UVU really cares about their students, giving opportunity to be more than just another number on a page.”
Event mentor Diane Acevedo reported her time at the Women to Women Mentoring event as “exceptional.”
“As a mentor, when I attend these events, I strive to empower, support, and infuse belief that each woman’s goal can be obtained,” she said. “This gathering was so incredible, that I left the event feeling energized and inspired. Being surrounded by brilliant female students that are hungry and eager to make an impact reminded me of my path and how different, yet similar, our paths are. Women need women! We're all students and path creators. I applaud UVU for swinging the doors open wide for women to further their education and careers.”
The UVU Women to Women Mentorship event was undertaken by The Office of Inclusion and Diversity, Women's Success Center, College of Science, and Women in Business Impact Lab.
