Senior guard Trey Woodbury hit a game-tying shot to force overtime, but the UVU men’s basketball season came to an end with an 88-86 loss to UAB in the semifinals of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) on March 28 in Las Vegas.

All five starters scored in double figures for the Wolverines, led by 16 points each from Woodbury and junior guard Justin Harmon, but their efforts fell short against the Blazers, who will advance to the NIT championship game on March 30.

UVU trailed for much of the game, finally taking their first lead of the game with 8:12 remaining in the second half. The two teams battled closely for the rest of the contest, with neither taking a lead of greater than five points.

The loss means the Wolverines’ season ends with a 28-9 record, the most wins in UVU men’s basketball history.
