Senior guard Trey Woodbury scored 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds as the Utah Valley University men’s basketball team continued its postseason run by defeating Cincinnati 74-68 at the UCCU Center in the quarterfinals of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) on Wednesday night.

The win earns the Wolverines a spot in the NIT semifinals in Las Vegas, where they will face the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) on Tuesday, March 28. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Junior guard Justin Harmon added 17 points and five rebounds for the Wolverines, while sophomore center Aziz Bandaogo had 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots.

UVU won its first two NIT games on the road, at New Mexico and Colorado, before hosting Wednesday’s game against Cincinnati. The Bearcats held a higher tournament seed, but ongoing renovations at their home arena gave the Wolverines the opportunity to host their first-ever NIT home game.

UVU moves to 28-8 on the season, the most wins in school history.
