Utah Valley University (UVU) President Astrid S. Tuminez joined Silicon Slopes executives as they rang the closing bell on the Nasdaq Stock Market on Jan. 20 in New York City.
“Silicon Slopes is a community where we gather together to learn, connect, and serve,” Silicon Slopes CEO Clint Betts said. “We are standing on the backs of generations of hard work from the state of Utah and tech companies that had been built here. And if not for them, we wouldn't be here. And it’s pretty incredible that a state of just over 3 million people punches above its weight class [and] has a strong partner with a global exchange in the Nasdaq, one of the most prominent exchanges in the world.”
Silicon Slopes and Nasdaq have collaborated for years to offer businesses in Utah a connection to the prominent stock exchange. President Tuminez serves on the Silicon Slopes board of directors and was inducted to the Silicon Slopes Hall of Fame in 2022.
“Ringing the closing bell at Nasdaq in New York City is an iconic moment!” Tuminez said, “I’m so excited I could be here with Silicon Slopes. I'm grateful for UVU's partnership with this inspiring organization and proud to serve on the board. Silicon Slopes leaders serve as amazing role models and mentors to our MBA students.”
