New UVU Leaders Announced

Please join me in welcoming Kyle and Michelle to their new roles starting October 1. I am excited for the energy, expertise, and commitment they will bring to our institution in these very important assignments.

I want to share some changes we are making in the UVU Cabinet leadership.

Mark Arstein has resigned from his role as vice president of Institutional Advancement. He and his wife, Deb, are planning to move back to Boise, their long-time home, where Mark plans to focus on completing his doctorate degree. After many years of cultivating donors, we reached a historic level of fundraising for UVU from 2021 to 2022. We wish Mark well and thank him for moving our philanthropic work forward during his time at UVU.

As we look forward to the public launch of UVU’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign this fall, I’m pleased that Kyle Reyes, Ph.D., vice president of Student Affairs, has accepted the role of vice president of Institutional Advancement. Kyle has been a stellar leader at the university for nearly two decades. His passion for UVU and higher education is palpable, whether advocating for the needs of our students or helping shape the vision for the university. He will be a great champion for UVU as we embark on a new era of philanthropic, alumni, and community support for the university.

Michelle Kearns, Ed.D., associate vice president of enrollment management in Student Affairs, will become the new vice president of Student Affairs, joining the presidential cabinet. A seasoned leader, Michelle has played an integral role in fostering a culture of student success at UVU, helping us increase student completion and retention rates as well as recruit new students to the university. She also has extensive experience with financial aid and scholarships. We will begin a national search for her replacement in the associate vice president role.

Please join me in welcoming Kyle and Michelle to their new roles starting October 1. I am excited for the energy, expertise, and commitment they will bring to our institution in these very important assignments.

Warm regards,

President Astrid S. Tuminez
