Happy Pride Month from UVU! To our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students of all genders and orientations, there is a place for you here at UVU.
Happy Pride Month from UVU! We welcome and encourage all students, staff, and faculty to bring their whole and authentic selves to our campus community. We hope that everyone, especially those in the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies, feels valued and recognized during Pride Month and throughout the year.
Pride is celebrated each year in June in honor of the 1969 Stonewall uprising in Manhattan — a tipping point for the gay liberation movement in the United States. Today, all kinds of celebrations across the United States and here at UVU recognize and memorialize the history and progress of lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, intersex, asexual, and queer people of all kinds.
Throughout this month, here and on our social media channels, we'll be sharing information about events, stories, and resources dedicated to celebrating LGBTQIA+ individuals and helping them and their allies.

UVU Student Helps Utahns Show Support During Pride with Project Rainbow
"We get emails all the time from people who get letters on their doorsteps — usually from youth — saying, ‘I'm gay, and my parents don't know. Thank you for putting up this flag; you don't know how much it means to me.’" Lucas Horns said.
No One is Alone: UVU Student Health Services Provides Therapy, Resources for LGBTQIA+ Students
“In Utah County, finding community is not easy," says Dr. Sheilagh Fox. "People sometimes end up feeling like they're the only queer person that they know, even though that's probably not true, statistically speaking. Given that context, I definitely want folks who feel like they are alone to come to therapy and talk.”
Pride Student Stories: Chris Neff
“Be strong, and always remember that there's nothing wrong with who you are,” Chris says. “And even if it's not your family or friends, you are loved and people care about you.”
Pride Student Stories: Ivette Pimentel
“Whatever they identify with, or whatever they are, whatever group they are a part of, they will find that at UVU,” Ivette says. “Whether that’s being part of the LGBTQ+ community or not, there's a group of people for whatever you’re doing, or whatever you want to do.”
