For years, Utah Valley University has partnered with the Disney College Program to provide Wolverines with internship opportunities at Disney parks in California and Florida. And while the COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on the status of these programs, the connection between UVU and Disney remains strong.
Amy Saville, UVU’s Disney internship coordinator, says UVU is in the top-10 schools nationally for placing students in the highly competitive program, ahead of some universities with bigger names or closer geographic locations.
“It’s pretty awesome that we’ve gotten up to the top 10 for Disney recruiting,” Saville said. “We’re one of their premier universities.”
The COVID-19 pandemic has created a lot of uncertainty about the status of Disney parks and the interns who work there. But in the meantime, students interested in careers with Disney will have a unique opportunity on March 2 during a free virtual workshop with Disney College & International Recruitment Manager Jeff Hickman.
“Typically, the question that students ask me most often when they’re preparing for an interview with Disney is, ‘How do I land an internship with my interview skills? What are they looking for?’” Saville said. “So we have this really rare opportunity to hear from Jeff.”
Saville says this “interview skills power hour” is unlikely to be repeated because once the pandemic ends, Disney will be flooded with new internship applicants and universities won’t be given this kind of individual attention.
“These skills could benefit anyone looking for a competitive, high-impact internship,” Saville said.
The workshop will be held on March 2 at 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. Students should register via the QR code below, which will direct them to log in to a Handshake account and receive an invite to the Teams event.
