Utah Valley University President Astrid S. Tuminez announced Friday that Clark Collings is the university’s new general counsel, effective July 1, 2020. Collings has been serving in the position as an interim since January 2020. He joined the UVU legal team in 2017.
"Clark has been an outstanding interim general counsel and a trusted advisor across campus. He is ready to take on a bigger role in UVU’s senior leadership team,” said President Tuminez. “He is a mentor and a strategic thinker and brings a wealth of legal knowledge, skills, and experience to this position. He is passionate about UVU's vision and mission. We are fortunate to have such a versatile and exceptional individual as our general counsel."
Collings has been responsible for the provision of legal services on all university transactional legal matters. He also serves as counsel and liaison to the Utah Valley University Foundation, oversees the provision of legal services on all university privacy matters, and provides legal counsel to the university’s athletics department. His other experience includes corporate governance, intellectual property licensing, real estate transactions, and employment matters.

Collings earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he graduated with high honors. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Brigham Young University.
