Join the vibrant Community Leadership Program, comprised of Freshmen, Residential, and Wolverine Community Leaders! Our team creates exciting events and activities at partner housing complexes, fostering student involvement in social, educational, service, leadership, and recreational opportunities. As a Community Leader, you’ll be key in establishing an authentic campus life experience, connecting students to campus resources, and promoting a strong affinity to UVU by 

  • Promoting on campus events that connect students back to campus
  • Helping students better understand campus life
  • Connecting students with campus resources so each student remains successful

Participating in the Community Leadership Program helps students grow in their ability to exercise critical thinking, collaborate with others, and develop the skill sets necessary to set and accomplish personal and professional goals.

Freshmen Community Leaders or FCLs live-onsite, plan events for the first-year students at their complexes, and focus on using a momentum year framework to put Wolverines on a solid path to success.

  • FCLs must be willing and able to work a minimum of 8-10 hours per week to fulfill their FCL responsibilities including office hours, professional development, and two on-site activities each month.
  • Weekly office hours: Tuesday & Thursday 2:00-4:00 pm
  • The scholarship includes rent for the academic year plus a partial utility stipend. 

Participation Requirements

  • Each FCL student must fully commit to the FCL Program for the entire "Academic Year," running fall and spring semesters. 
  • Each FCL partnership facilitates at least two on-site activities each month.
  • FCLs are expected each week to plan programs, make assignments, manage budgets, create marketing materials and fulfill all responsibilities as assigned.
  • FCLs are required to attend various trainings and workshops throughout the year that will help them gain valuable leadership skills that they are expected to apply to their leadership as FCLs.
  • Each FCL is required to attend office hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 2-4PM
  • Each FCL is required to attend the mini-retreat in May, the fall retreat in August and the spring semester retreat in January.
  • 2.50 Cumulative GPA or higher when applying and a maintained 2.50 GPA each semester
  • Successful Programming and Event Performance
  • Full-time Student Status at UVU (12 credits or more)
  • Physical ability to lift equipment unaccompanied
  • Adherence to UVU Student Leadership Participation Clause
  • Successfully pass a background check

 

Residential Community Leaders or RCLs live on-site, plan events for their complexes, and act as a resouce for their peers.

  • RCLs must be willing and able to work a minimum of 8-10 hours per week to fulfill their FCL responsibilities including office hours, professional development, and two on-site activities each month.
  • Weekly office hours: Tuesday & Thursday 2:00-4:00 pm
  • The scholarship includes rent for the academic year plus a partial utility stipend.

Wolverine Community Leaders or WCLs live off-site, plan events for an assigned complex, and connect students to UVU resources.

  • WCLs must be willing and able to dedicate about 4-5 hours per week to fulfill their WCL responsibilities including office hours, professional development, and one on-site activity per month 
  • Weekly office hours: Tuesday 2:00-4:00 pm
  • The scholarship includes $1,000 stipend per semester

Participation Requirements

  • Each WCL student must fully commit to the WCL Program for the entire "Academic Year," running fall and spring semesters. (Note: The WCL Program does not function during the summer)
  • Each WCL partnership facilitates one event per month at assigned housing complex.
  • WCLs are expected each week to plan programs, make assignments, manage budgets, create marketing materials and fulfill all responsibilities as assigned.
  • WCLs are required to attend various trainings and workshops throughout the year that will help them gain valuable leadership skills that they are expected to apply to their leadership as WCLs.
  • Each WCL is required to attend office hours every Wednesday from 2-4 PM
  • Each WCL is required to attend the mini-retreat in May, the fall retreat in August and the spring semester retreat in January.
  • 2.50 Cumulative GPA or higher when applying and a maintained 2.50 GPA each semester
  • Successful Programming and Event Performance
  • Full-time Student Status at UVU (12 credits or more)
  • Physical ability to lift equipment unaccompanied
  • Adherence to UVU Student Leadership Participation Clause
  • Successfully pass a background check

When Can You Apply for the Program?

 

Applications for the RCL program are open twice a year. The application periods are as follows:

  • February: Applications for those interested in participating for the full '25-'26 academic year will be open from February 10-March 10, 2025 MST.
  • October: Applications open for those interested in joining for the spring semester if we have any vacant positions.

Our student leaders plan one to two events each month to connect students living in off-campus housing back to the university. Our events are great places to meet new people, learn new skills, have fun, or hear about UVU events and resources. All of our events are FREE and we encourage all UVU students to attend!
