UVU Freshman Housing Experience at The Green

The Green is a student housing community located across the street from UVU campus. This partnership is aimed at providing incoming freshmen students  the vibrant and engaging community experience that fosters connections beyond the classroom setting. Students will live in a building with a Residential Community Leader (RCL): UVU students selected and trained to create engaging events and activities that encourage student involvement in social, educational, service, leadership, and recreational opportunities to establish a true campus life experience. By living at The Green, incoming freshmen can benefit from this academic advantage

Convenient Transportation: UVU offers free UTA transportation to students, making it easy for students to get around town and access shopping, food, and entertainment options without needing  a car. Additionally, there is free parking at The Green.

                                                 Who is Eligible to live in the UVU Freshman Housing?

Applicants must:

-Be admitted to UVU and enrolled in UVU classes  

-Be between the ages of 18-24 

-Have 30 credits or less, (excluding former UVU concurrent enrollment students)

-Be in good standing with the UVU Student Rights & Accountability Office  

-Sign a housing contract with The Green

Once you have a signed a contract The Green will send your name to UVU to verify admission.

How do I sign up? 

  • To sign up, you will need to contact and sign a contract between you and The Green. Visit the Green's website and select "Freshman Experience" to receive more information and start an application. Once your application at The Green has been confirmed, your name will be sent to UVU to confirm eligibility for the Freshman Housing Program.

Who is the contract between?

  • The lease will be between the student and The Green. Any and all matters regarding the contract will be facilitated with The Green.

What is the cost? 

  • The cost varies by floor plan. For specific pricing information, please visit the Green's website. There are several contract options available in Building 3 and 5, which are designated for UVU Freshman Housing at The Green. For more details on contract options, please visit the Green's website

Do I need a meal plan? 

  • No, students will not require a meal plan, as all apartments have a full kitchen in-unit. This allows students to prepare their own meals according to their preferences and dietary needs.

What are RCLs? 

  • RCL stands for Residential Community Leaders. RCLs are UVU students who live at nearby housing complexes and host engaging events and activities to encourage student involvement in social, educational, service, leadership, and recreational opportunities, fostering a true campus life experience. There are 6 RCL students dedicated to hosting events specifically for students in the Freshman Housing Experience. RCL students also act as a resource support system for their peers by:

    • Promoting on-campus events that connect students back to campus
    • Helping students better understand campus life
    • Connecting students with campus resources to ensure each student remains successful
     
What if I need to sell my lease?
  • If you need to sell your lease in the Freshman Housing Program, you will need to post your lease online to find a qualified student to transfer your lease to. This process ensures that the new tenant meets the eligibility requirements to live in the dedicated Freshman Housing buildings. Please be aware that a lease transfer fee is associated with this process. For more information and assistance with the lease transfer process, please contact The Green.
How do I select my roommates?
  • Students who would like to select roommates to live with can do so at the time of application in the roommate selection portion of the application. All prospective roommates must qualify to live in Freshman housing in order to be placed together.
  • Students can utilize the Find a Roommate tool to seek out similar students to room with. This tool helps match students based on lifestyle preferences, interests, and habits to find compatible roommates
  • If you don't have a preferred roommate, you can opt for the roommate matching process, where The Green will match you with a roommate based on lifestyle preferences and interests. Please note that while  best efforts are made to accommodate all roommate requests, it is not guaranteed that all requests will be fulfilled due to availability and other factors.
What if i'm under 18 years old?

Students must be between the ages of 18-24 to be admitted into the Freshman Housing Program. Students under the age of 18 can still live in other buildings at The Green.

Do I have to be a student?

To apply for the Freshman Housing Experience, you must be a currently enrolled UVU student taking at least one course. Please note that LDS Institute classes do not count as UVU courses and therefore do not qualify

Terms & Conditions

Non-Freshman and non-UVU students will live at the Green. The Green will make the best effort to accommodate buildings 3 & 5 with Freshman, depending on housing demand, there is a possibility that other individuals will be living in the building or unit.
