U.S. Congressional Internship

Each semester Utah’s state senators and representatives hire interns for their local offices and their Washington, DC office. Internships are available part-time or full-time for their local district areas and full-time for their Washington, D.C. office.

Internship Duties

  • Constituent Correspondence (emails, phone, mail, in-person)
  • Research (legislative assignments)
  • Attending hearings and/or committees
  • Tracking legislation
  • Tours (DC Office)
  • Attending constituent events
  • Administrative work

Eligibility

In order to apply an applicant must:

  • Be a current UVU student with Sophomore, Junior or Senior status
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commit to all time requirements necessary for the internship

Most congressional applications will require:

  • Cover Letter
  • Resume
  • Writing Sample (3-5 pages)
  • Unofficial Transcript
  • 1-2 Letters of Recommendation
