Opportunity

First-generation students face greater challenges to completing higher education than students who have at least one parent with a bachelor’s degree. The First-generation Completion Initiative removes barriers and provides necessary resources.

Need

  • UVU has over 19 thousand first-generation students enrolled, accounting for 41% of the student body. This academic year, we awarded scholarships to 96 students—a staggeringly low number compared to the need. In addition, we are only able to provide programming and mentoring for roughly 2,000 students each year, due to budget and staff constraints. Your donations allow us to increase the number of students we serve in both areas, directly impacting a student's success in the classroom, accelerating their path to graduation, and launching them into a successful and fulfilling career.
  • Donations to First-Generation Student initiatives make an impact far beyond the present and alter the lives of many generations to come.
