Gavin McLaren ‘24 had to drop out of high school because of an unknown illness that left him fatigued and plagued with symptoms. However, Utah Valley University (UVU) helped him get his GED and move toward a bachelor’s degree in technology management. “UVU was a ray of hope that opened opportunities for someone who thought they had lost everything,” he said.
During his freshman year, Gavin joined the Excellence and Innovation Initiative (E2i). This program awarded him a scholarship and allowed him to experience engaged learning opportunities based on real-world problems.
“A lot of the things that I imagine myself not being able to have the opportunity to do, I’ve been able to do here within E2i,” he says. “This program is a pathway for you to accomplish your goals and dreams.”
The many generous donors who make the E2i program possible have given Gavin a chance at a brighter future.
