Linda Makin began her journey at UVU as a first-generation student in Fall 1978 and later continued her educational journey in UVU’s accounting program as a non-traditional student balancing family, school, and full-time work. She currently serves as Vice President for Planning, Budget & Finance/CFO. During her 43-year career at UVU, Linda has led a variety of administrative teams including Budget, Finance, Policy, Human Resources, and Planning.

Throughout her UVU career, she has been firmly committed to UVU’s mission as an open-admission, student success focused institution. Her two favorite days of each year are the first day of school in the Fall—watching students energetically engage in their educational journeys--and graduation—celebrating students’ achievement of their educational goals. Linda strives to support student success through informed and collaborative decision-making and effective resource allocation.

Linda is passionate about education and leadership opportunities for women. She serves as UVU’s UWHEN chapter executive liaison, as a member of UVU’s Women’s Council (inaugural co-chair), as an ambassador for the Utah Women’s Leadership Project and as a mentor and panelist for the USHE Utah Women’s Leadership Exchange.

Though she is retiring from UVU in May, she will continue to champion UVU, its mission, and its students.
