I was studying marketing at a different university in Utah before switching to UVU. I thoroughly enjoyed the business school and wanted to pursue a career in business but could not find a degree that I wanted to pursue. Eventually, I decided to switch my major to dental hygiene and transfer to UVU. After a few days in the pre-requisites for my new major, I realized that I desperately missed studying business. After looking at the options offered by UVU, Human Resources stood out to me. Human Resources was the perfect match between being in the business world and working with people. This was not an undergrad degree offered at the previous business school I had attended, and I switched immediately. I have not looked back since!
I left my academic scholarship behind when switching to UVU. This meant that I had to become a working student to support myself through school. My days were filled from 5AM to 10PM for most of my time at UVU, but everything worked out in the end. The job I worked at was in Human Resources and helped give me experience that helped me land a dream job right out of my undergrad degree. I believe that I still would have worked if I had a scholarship, but it would have been less demanding. I would have had more time to focus on my studies and personal life and that would have relieved much of the chaos and stress that ran my life for a very long time.
