"In my opinion, the two and a half years I spent with Innovabio helped further my career more than any other singular experience during my time at UVU. This internship gave me the opportunity to work on multiple real-world research projects and see each stage from conception to completion. These projects included Alzheimer's research and essential oil inhibitory concentration quantification. Most of the protocols needed to work on these experiments were unique enough that we had to develop them ourselves. As a result, my abilities to plan, problem-solve, and innovate in a lab setting were greatly increased. Not only this, but the nature of our work gave us plenty of opportunities to practice laboratory techniques learned in the classroom until we truly mastered them. Included in these techniques were tissue culture, PCR, and the western blot. All of these experiences combined to give me confidence in my abilities that translated into a quick transition from graduation to working full-time in research. There are many opportunities at UVU that helped get me to where I am today, but I give the most credit to Innovabio for giving me the practical experience that is so highly valued by employers. I am incredibly grateful for all I gained through the Innovabio internship, and I would give it my highest recommendation to anyone looking to improve their research skills while at UVU."
