Our Values

At the First-Gen Student Success Center, we are deliberate in the services we provide so we can support first-generation students in ways that matter. Our values of community, mentoring, and advocacy help us to focus our services and provide meaningful support based on student needs.

First-Generation Student Success Center is committed to these values:

UVU’s First-Gen Student Success Center provides a strong and supportive community of mentors, staff, professors, and alumni for its first-gen student population.

Mentoring is a major element of the First-Gen Student Success Center. We have numerous mentors and mentoring opportunities for first-gen students to take advantage of while in school.

We aim to help students value their time, energy, and bandwidth. Learning to advocate for individual needs and wants is a life skill that is drastically undervalued. We aim to help students gain courage and confidence to ask tough questions and explore opportunities.
