Program Details

Singapore:

Students will visit schools, have conversations with local educators about caring for students, fostering innovation and the emphasis on high academic achievement, and will also tour local attractions.

Cambodia:

The students will tour both urban and rural schools, and will visit a community art school where they will have lessons by art masters. Students will also visit local attractions including Angkor Wat.

Indonesia and Malaysia:
During the two weekends of the trip, students will have the opportunity to travel to Bintan, Indonesia and Malacca, Malaysia to explore cultural sites and attractions. School or educational visits may also be included where available.

These locations have been specifically selected due to their exception education performance internationally, their reputation for high quality and innovative educational approaches, and/or their rich culture and history.

Anticipated Curriculum

ECFS 208R - Directed Readings - Multicultural Education Experience (1 credit hour)

Accepted students will also complete a pre-departure couse (Spring 2023 Second Block): EDUC 520R - Special Topics in Education - Intercultural Emersion Preparation

 

 

 

Program Requirements*

Must be 18 years of age at the time of departure

Must be School of Education student and/or with a declared education major. Must have at least 30 credits and have completed Introduction to Education (EDEL 1010), EDSC 1010, or equivalent.

Minimum G.P.A.: 2.0

Physical Requirements: The program may require a significant amount of walking on various terrain.

Each international destination has its own Covid-19 rules and it is the travelers responsibility to find out what is required. UVU will not be responsible for covering the cost of hotel quarantine or Covid-19 testing in foreign destinations. Students may be required to test negative for COVID-19 at their own expense by host countries as a condition for entry.

Fee covers in-country housing and transportation, site visits and excursions, some meals, international insurance.

Students should be prepared to pay out-of-pocket for possible COVID tests or quarantine stays if required by the host country for entry or exit.

All students are required to pay a $75 non-refundable application fee.
