Dr. Barry Hallsted

Biography

Barry is a member of the Construction Management faculty. Barry enjoys associating with students in the classroom and through all of the leadership and service learning activities at UVU as well. Barry has also enjoyed his association with the faculty in the Construction Technologies and is always impressed with the wide array of skills and experience the faculty bring to the classroom. Barry especially loves seeing students succeed in their goals and aspirations in life as well as in the construction industry.

Barry is also responsible for overseeing the development and continued management of the AAS and BS degrees in Construction Management lanched fall, 2008.

Barry was self employed as a general contractor and real estate broker for over 20 years in Arizona. Barry has been a life-long learner and especially enjoys all aspects related to building science as well as motivational theory and leadership.

Dr. Hallsted has enjoyed his never ending educational quest in both formal academic settings as well as through professional certifications. His education includes undergraduate diplomas in Construction Estimating and Drafting and a BS in Youth Leadership. His graduate studies include diplomas in Project Management as well as Business Administration (MBA and PhD).

Barry and his wife Julie have seven children and have lived in Cedar Hills (Utah) since 2004. He enjoys gardening, motorcycles, outings with his family and outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. He has been active in Scouting (BSA) on several levels and has been awarded the Silver Beaver award.
