Dr. Xiaoyi Ji

Biography

Xiaoyi Ji is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at Utah Valley university. Dr. Ji earned a B.S. in Mathematics Education from Hubei Education University in China, M.S. in statistics from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a PhD in mathematics concentration on statistics from Texas Tech University.

Dr. Ji began her teaching at Utah Valley University in 2008. She has taught nine different statistics courses -STAT 1040, STAT 2040, STAT 2060, STAT 3040, STAT 4100, STAT 4040, STAT 4710, STAT 4720, and nine different mathematics courses-MATH 100R, MATH 1030, MATH 1050, MATH 1100, MATH 1210, MATH 1220, MATH 1221, MATH 2270, and MATH 4040.

Dr. Ji's papers, publications, and conference presentations include Frechet-Differentiation of Functions of Operators with Application to Testing the Equality of Two Covariance Operators; Using Watershed-Scale Flow Predictions Based on Sparse Data to Develop Flow Duration Curves; A Stochastic Partial Differential Equation for Stock-price Distributions; Discussions of America-China Math Teaching Methods to Understand the Reasons tor Students' Different Performance; The Quantiles of the Distribution of the Specified Random Variable for Inference about Population Means or Population Proportions; and Data-driven Learning Strategy in Introductory Statistics Courses.
