Biography
As an academic advising counselor, my goal is to be a facilitator, providing a safe space for students to explore and discover their interests, thoughts and ideas. I value reflection, curiosity, and empathy in my interactions with students rather than giving directives or telling a student what they ought to think about a life path. I encourage students to be curious, while gently challenging students on negative judgements they make about educational journeys and careers paths. I believe that students can be the leaders of their journey and by listening and providing resources, I can assist in their leadership.
As a first-year writing here at UVU, I value listening to my students, making class-time fun with games and activities, and thinking through problems together. I prioritize knowing a little about each of my students' backgrounds and seek to provide a holistic learning experience for well-rounded individuals.
