Biography

Jonathon Huckvale is an adjunct faculty member in the Computer Science Department at Utah Valley University.

He currently teaches undergraduate courses in Software Engineering (CS2450) and Global Intercultural & Social Ethics in Computing (CS305G).

He completed his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, where he studied Human-Computer Interaction and Communication while conducting research in the Eye-Tracking Lab. He then went on to work in the safety engineering industry while also pursuing his graduate degree.

His graduate research has focused on the complexity sciences, exploring the dynamic interplay between computer science and cognitive science and the intricate processes involved in the autonomous, self-organized development of individual and social systems.

As a faculty research mentor, Jonathon leads a small lab of student researchers who are conducting cutting-edge interdisciplinary research. Their work focuses on using engineering technology to address the issues of unconscious bias, intercultural conflict, discrimination, prejudice, stereotyping, intolerance, and inequality.

He is passionate about inclusive teaching and research and committed to using technology ethically in ways that solve complex social problems and lead to prosocial outcomes.
