Biography

An award-winning writer and editor and a sought-after teacher, Tyler Chadwick has a deep love for word-work. In and beyond the classroom, he's committed to sharing the cosmoplastic power of words: their capacity to shape new moral and material worlds.

While he grew up convinced he'd become a visual artist and began his undergraduate career as an art student, he's always loved reading and he developed a passion for writing, teaching, and public speaking in his early twenties. His growing passion led him to switch vocational paths and he completed three degrees in English: a Bachelors in English literature from Weber State University (2006), a Masters in American poetry from National University (2008), and a Ph.D. in rhetoric, performance poetries, and critical pedagogy from Idaho State University (2017).

He began teaching at the university level in 2010 and he taught writing, literature, and speech courses for Brigham Young University--Idaho, Idaho State University, Nightingale College, and Weber State University before he began teaching at UVU.

Having published widely in literary venues, he has four books to his name: two poetry anthologies, *Fire in the Pasture: Twenty-first Century Mormon Poets* (Peculiar Pages, 2011) and *Dove Song: Heavenly Mother in Mormon Poetry* (Peculiar Pages, 2018); a collection of poetry and essays, *Field Notes on Language and Kinship* (Mormon Artists Group, 2013); and a poetry collection, *Litany with Wings* (BCC Press, 2022).
