Dr. Shannon Mussett

Biography

Shannon Mussett is Professor of Philosophy at Utah Valley University. She specializes in French Existentialism, German Idealism, Feminist Theory, and Philosophy and Literature. She publishes widely on Simone de Beauvoir, French Existentialism, and Hegelian philosophy. She is author of Entropic Philosophy: Chaos, Breakdown, and Creation, Philosophical Projections Series (London: Roman & Littlefield International, 2022). She is also co-editor of Beauvoir and the History of Philosophy from Plato to Butler (SUNY Press, 2012) and The Contradictions of Freedom: Philosophical Essays on Simone de Beauvoir's Les Mandarins (SUNY Press, 2006). She is currently working on her second book on Entropy and Aging.

Dr. Mussett regularly teaches Phenomenology and Existentialism, 19th-Century European Philosophy, Philosophical Issues in Feminism, Philosophy through Literature, and Ethics and Values.
