The Digital Media Department is pleased to introduce a new Assistant Professor for the Digital Cinema Production Program, Kevin Smith. Kevin Smith is originally from South Florida, where he obtained both his undergraduate degree in Electronic Media and Master of Fine Arts at the University of Miami (UM). After graduating from the University of Miami’s film school in 2003, Smith has taught classes in Florida while working in the cinema production industry.
Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to work on everything from corporate and commercial projects to Reality TV. Some of the amazing projects that Smith has been a part of include: a production assistant for the “2 Fast 2 Furious” set in the stunt unit filming night sequences, an episode of “Growing Up Hip Hop”, “The Hunt with John Walsh”, and crime shows with ID Discovery while working for Peacock Productions. Smith has also had the opportunity to win short film awards working on independent productions where he was able to pursue his passion for short form narrative films.
When asked what he is most excited about in regards to teaching at Utah Valley University (UVU), Smith said, "What really attracted me the most to UVU is the way that the Digital Media program operates, and the way the Digital Cinema Production program is set up. We are very well equipped here and we have a lot of support.”
