UVU Cylinder Project (uvucylinderproject.org) is an ongoing website, database, and audio restoration project run by the Digital Audio program in conjunction with other Digital Media programs. Students in their senior year are required to complete a capstone project which is chosen and carried out by the student. Most of the capstone projects will be made up of a team of students working together. For the cylinder project audio students learn to transcribe using both digital and analog setups, recording into a digital audio workstation. After the recording process students use specialized audio restoration software to bring out the content and clarity of the original recording.
