Job Responsibilities:
• Ensure laboratory safety guidelines and good laboratory practices are followed at
all times.
• Prepare, maintain, and perform microbiological, analytical, and chemical testing.
• Follow good laboratory practices (GLP).
• Operate scientific equipment such as: GCMS, GCFID, HPLC, LCMS, Refractometer, Optical
Rotation, Specific Gravity, Distillations, Autoclave, Analytical balance, spectrophotometer,
pH meter, microscopes and more.
• Prepare and dispense solutions and chemical materials for lab use, which may include:
media solvents, reagents, oils, aroma chemicals, acids, bases, buffers, stains, and
unknowns.
• Assist in special projects and experiments as assigned.
• Prepare media for use in the growth and propagations of microorganisms.
• Monitor, collect, and process waste materials and chemicals. Properly process and
dispose of waste.
• Assist in distillation of raw material to obtain pure oil samples.
• Receive samples from customers and catalog samples in the appropriate manifest.
• Work with office manager to ensure samples are retained and easily accessed.
• Perform routine standardization and maintenance of all lab equipment.
• Order, receive, and stock materials, supplies, inventories, and equipment for laboratory
use.
• Clean up after each lab session by washing, and if necessary, sterilizing tools,
equipment, and supplies.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• Pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in science related field
• Experience working in a lab or technical setting preferred.
• Essential oil and extract experience preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Organization skills.
• Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals.
• Able to work independently and safely.
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to understand and follow laboratory safety procedures.
