No. Professional references do not require any special formatting. As part of the application process, you indicate the name and email address of at least three individuals to provide you with a professional reference. Those people receive an email with access to the admissions system to input a reference for you. References consist of answers to a short set of questions and an optional uploaded letter if desired.
Priority applications for fall 2025 must be submitted by May 31, 2025. All applications must be submitted before July 15, 2025. Applications for the fall 2025 program may not be submitted after July 15, 2025.
Prior work experience is preferred but not required for admission to the MS-ETM degree. Students with several years or more of work experience benefit from the program, as it builds on the practical knowledge they have gained in the workplace. Students also learn more from each other when they have real-world experiences to share. Applicants without prior work experience are given full consideration for the program and may be admitted depending on availability.
An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) is a general UVU requirement for acceptance into any graduate program. Programs are not able to waive or adjust this requirement. However, students in extraordinary circumstances may request an exception by appealing to the Graduate Council Appeals Committee. Also, note that the undergraduate GPA may be calculated as the cumulative of all undergraduate courses or may be calculated from the most recent 60 credit hours, whichever is greater.

Also, check with your employer to see if they provide financial support for you to attend the MS-ETM program. Many employers support employees in attending UVU's graduate programs.

Yes, the MS-ETM is a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) program.
Master's-level courses require significant work, similar to senior-level undergraduate courses. The focus of MS-ETM master's courses is on thinking, reasoning, critical analysis, and connecting with real-world challenges in industry. Case study analysis, group work, and discussion are important components of master's courses. Assignments are designed to be relevant and connect with students' employment situations. Graduate students build strong relationships with their peers as they work together on group projects. Master's courses focus on projects and research assignments more than on traditional homework and tests.
The MS-ETM program is designed for working professionals to take part-time courses online. Students are grouped into cohorts and typically take two three-credit hour courses per semester to finish 10 courses (30 credit hours total) in five semesters (20 months). Students benefit from staying together as a group and progressing quickly through the program. However, if a student has scheduling conflicts or other needs, they may take fewer than two courses per semester, as long as they are able to finish the program in six years or less. Students may also take more than 30 credit hours by adding elective courses to their schedules, as long as they finish within the six-year time limit.
