The UVU Construction Management department hosted their alumni and students at their
First Annual Alumni/Student Barbeque during homecoming week.
The festivities included Zorb ball races led by department chair Rob Warcup. The
crowd cheered as all participated in the department comradery.
The event also spotlighted past faculty member, the original “Bob the Builder” Bob Dunn. Bob contributed to the construction technologies department for 41 years. He has been through each of UVU’s growth phases leading the way in creating a program that has produced some of the best in the Utah construction industry. Bob humbly accepted a golden tape measure from fellow faculty member and friend DeWayne Erdmann.
Alumni, students and Utah Valley industry leaders enjoyed the evening with the help of other engineering and technology departments. Culinary Arts supplied the BBQ buffet, as our own Eric Linfield headed up the flipping of burgers and dogs on Automotive Technologies “El Camino” grilling machine. Many enjoyed the joint venture videos between Construction Management and Digital Media as student and alumni construction projects were highlighted on the big screen.
Volunteers from the Construction Management Student Association collaborated to make
the evening a success by providing the set up and cleanup of the event.
“We are extremely proud of our students and alumni as they continue to graduate and
become the leaders of the construction industry,” said Rob Warcup, Construction Technologies
Department Chair.
Plans are for this to become an annual event each year during homecoming.
