The UVU School of Aviation Sciences is located in Provo, Utah seven miles south of Utah Valley University at the Provo Airport Campus. Our state-of-the-art facilities provide a professional and comfortable atmosphere for students to access educational resources. The school comprises two hangars which house classrooms, faculty & staff offices, 5 flight simulators, flight planning and briefing rooms, a computer lab, and a spacious lobby with direct flight line access and views of the UVU fleet against the surrounding Wasatch Mountains.
We are conscious of the rapidly growing population in Utah County and how our flight training operations can have an impact. We have taken steps to designate specific training & practice areas, avoiding sections of dense population as well as flight below designated altitudes over those areas to the extent possible. This is an effort to reduce noise pollution and be responsible members of the Utah Valley community.
Our aircraft fleet is based at the Provo Municipal Airport in Provo, Utah. UVU flight operations currently account for approximately 70% of all air traffic at this location. Our impeccably maintained fleet of 25 aircraft includes the Diamond DA40 XLT and the Piper PA-44 Seminole (our twin-engine trainer). The fleet is equipped with “glass cockpit” technology (computerized flight instruments) and is maintained in our own FAA part 145 repair station, which few other schools offer.
UVU stands out as the top choice for students seeking a stellar safety record, rigorous flight training, and outstanding career placement.
The UVU School of Aviation Sciences utilizes Frasca, the world leader in design and manufacture of flight simulators, flight training devices, and simulation components. As part of the flight training curriculum, we incorporate and strongly encourage students to maximize simulator time, which helps reduce training costs and time. This allows students to progress toward their FAA certificates in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

Description: The Frasca RTD is categorized by the FAA as an AATD or Advanced Aviation Training Device. The different cockpit layouts represent both aircraft types in our fleet and provide a seamless transition between simulator and airplane training. It is equipped with 3 viewing monitors, allowing a greater variety of training capability. The G1000 and Garmin licensed software also provide realistic instrument conditions and allow for diverse scenario based training to include customized weather and system malfunctions. Private pilot students also benefit from the incorporation of flight simulation in their training, which reduces training costs and allows them to learn basic flight concepts without distractions of radios and other air traffic.
