You may qualify for residency if you satisfy the requirements for one of the categories below. Once you are admitted as a student to the University, you will need to complete the residency reclassification application and upload the required documentation.

American Indian from a tribe with reservation or trust lands in Utah Valley University

You must be enrolled on the tribal rolls of a tribe whose reservation or trust lands lie partly or wholly within Utah or whose border is at any point contiguous with the border of Utah to qualify for this category. Please submit the following document:

Copy of your “Certificate of Blood” document.

Northwestern Band of Shoshoni Nation of Utah (Washakie)

Utah State Services recipient

You may qualify for this category if you are receiving services from a Utah state social or rehabilitation services agency and receiving full-time tuition and fees allowance. Please submit the following document:

Letter from your Social Services Counselor verifying the agency is paying your educational expenses.

Participant in Olympic athlete training program in Utah

You may qualify for this category if you are currently an Olympic athlete training in the state of Utah. Please submit the following document:

Letter from the USOC verifying your eligibility.

Job Corps Student

You may qualify for this category if you are currently participating in Job Corps in the state of Utah. Please submit the following document:

Inmates

You may qualify for this category if you are currently incarcerated or for one year after the day on which you are released from a correctional facility as definined in Section 64-13-1. Please submit the following document:

A letter from your facility verifying your time of incarceration

Freely Associated States

You may qualify for this category if you have citizenship in one of the following locations: Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, or the Republic of Palau.
