Residency Reclassification Appeals

Applicants denied Utah residency for tuition may file an appeal to be reviewed by the Admissions office.

Some information to consider:

  • Students are only eligible to appeal after their initial residency application has been reviewed and denied.
  • Appeals must be filed within 21 days of the first day of classes in the semester for which residency is desired. You can review semester start days on the schedule website. Failure to file an appeal within the time prescribed shall constitute a waiver of your right to request an appeal.
  • Applicants are notified of the residency decision via email within their myUVU email account.

How to Appeal

To appeal a residency decision email with the following information to request an appeal:

    • Name
    • UVID
    • Brief explanation for why you are appealing the decision

Appeals with missing information or documentation will not be considered.
