Women of UVU FAQs

How much does it cost to be a member?

Membership for the Women of UVU costs $10 for the academic school year (April to May). This membership includes a t-shirt, Women of UVU swag, and access to all Women of UVU hosted events for one year. If you are unable to afford the membership fee, but are interested in joining the Women of UVU, please contact Program Coordinator, Alyssa Goya, at alyssa.goya@uvu.edu.

Will joining the Women of UVU help qualify me for scholarships?

Women of UVU offers scholarship opportunities for Leadership Council members. As a general body member, you are able to develop a skill set that you are ready for to apply for that opportunity. Additionally, membership in Women of UVU reads well on resumes and applications for external scholarships.

Who can be a member of the Women of UVU?

All UVU students, regardless of gender, are welcome to be a member of Women of UVU. The organization is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Do you have Weekly or Monthly member meetings?

At this time, we do not have weekly or monthly member meetings. We share information through our weekly newsletter and social media.

How can I be more involved with your organization?

If you would like to be more involved, take a look at our event calendar for opportunities to attend events. Also, keep an eye for our weekly newsletter that will get sent to your UVU email address or the email specified in your get to know you form. These emails will highlight upcoming events and share opportunities to help with Women of UVU activities. Additionally, Leadership Council applications open every April with an opportunity for deepened involvement in Women of UVU.

Will I receive a cord at graduation for participating in the Women of UVU?

There are two ways for Women of UVU members to qualify for a cord at the time of graduation. The first way is to be a member for at least three years by the time of graduation. Students who have been a member for one or two years must also have participated in at least three Women of UVU events per year in order to be eligible. If you are eligible, we will reach out to you the Spring of your graduation year.

How will I receive activity reminders and WUVU updates?

Be sure to check your UVU email address for our weekly newsletter. Fill out our Get to Know You Form so we can contact you and follow our Social Media accounts.

How can I get to your office during the construction?

I’m nervous to come to events because I don’t know anyone. What advice do you have for me?

One of Women of UVU’s goals is to help students make social connections on campus. Our Leadership Council members do a great job of welcoming new faces and developing fun and safe opportunities for our members. By the time you leave an event, you will know new people and be ready to return.

You are also welcome to bring friends who aren’t members yet to our events. They can sign up at any of our events.

What are you doing to make activities COVID friendly?

Women of UVU is currently hosting a mix of virtual and in person events. All in person events are developed following University COVID-19 guidance.

How many activities can I go to?

Once you pay for your annual Women of UVU membership, you can (and are encouraged to) attend as many events as you would like. There is no limit on how many events you can attend in a semester or year.

How can I contact the Women of UVU if I have additional questions?

You can contact us at womenofuvu@uvu.edu with any additional questions.
