The Utah Fire and Rescue Academy (UFRA) emerged from a long tradition of providing
fire service education in Utah. For over 30 years, Utah Valley University has been
the sole provider of fire-related higher education to the firefighters of Utah.

The UFRA Straight Tip magazine is sent to firefighters and fire departments across the state of Utah. This
quarterly magazine features writing from nationally known experts, firefighters from
Utah and across the country, and UVU staff and faculty. Straight Tip provides news and technical information that is both timely and essential to the
increasing professionalism of emergency services in Utah. It reaches over 6,500 subscribers
and is distributed in print and electronic format at no charge to subscribers.

Quality in training and certification is a top priority at the Utah Fire and Rescue Academy. Courses are evaluated in regards to content and instructors, and changes are made if necessary to ensure the highest quality product is being offered to the firefighters of Utah.
