The English and Literature Department at UVU supports, funds, and advises the publication of three student-run journals that feature student work: Essais, Warp and Weave, and Touchstones. Each journal has a unique mission. The journal Essais publishes non-fiction academic work. The journal Warp and Weave publishes fiction, artwork, and poetry in speculative fiction genres (i.e. science fiction, fantasy, and horror). And the journal Touchstones publishes all other kinds of fiction, poetry, and artwork. Each of these journals publishes a new issue of original content each Fall and Spring semester.

Not only is student work prominently featured in the content of each publication, the editorial staff of each of these publications is comprised entirely of current UVU students. Though most student editors are English majors, all these journals invite interested current students from all majors to consider joining their staffs.

These publications exist primarily to provide student authors and artists the opportunity to showcase their own work and to provide student editors valuable pre-professional experience in the area of small-press publishing.
