The Master of Science in Engineering and Technology Management (MS-ETM) is an applied graduate program focused on preparing engineering and technical professionals to become leaders in the management of technology in their fields.
Participants learn decision-making, evaluation, and implementation strategies for fast-moving, technical management decisions that prepare them for both career and business success.
Graduate students in the MS-ETM program complete a graduate project rather than a theoretical or research-based thesis often associated with a Master of Science. While theory and research are always a part of a graduate degree, UVU’s MS-ETM program focuses on real-world applications ahead of theory.
The MS-ETM program is designed for working professionals. Students attend courses part time to complete 30 hours of online coursework over 5 semesters. The program consists of 24 hours of core courses and from 6 to 12 hours of elective courses chosen by the student.
Anyone wishing to apply for the MS-ETM program must have a bachelor’s degree from
an accredited college or university, an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
on a 4.0 scale with official
transcripts, submit 3 professional letters of recommendation, and a personal statement. Admissions
are competitive. Prior work experience preferred.
The engineering and technology industry is at the heart of Utah’s thriving economy, meaning job opportunities are abundant for qualified candidates. Currently, there is a significant gap between the number of engineering and technology jobs and the number of qualified candidates. The industry also needs experienced engineers and technology professionals to gain management skills, like those offered by this degree.
Utah has become one of the nation’s tech industry hubs and is known as Silicon Slopes, meaning there are many opportunities to work in the industry and network while earning your degree.
Aside from the promise of career opportunities, Utah is also known for its vast and breathtaking mountains, ski resorts, and national parks.
UVU emphasizes learning outside of the classroom and incorporating real-world experiences into the curriculum. We seek to prepare students as much as possible for their lives as well as their careers.
Inclusion is an important part of UVU’s mission. We provide resources and support on campus for including a diverse student body, including the Multicultural Student Services, mental health services, and the Melisa Nellesen Center for Autism. 38% of our students are first-generation college students.
Many degrees and certificates offered at UVU are catered toward working professionals, who are working full time while also pursuing a degree. Our Master of Science in Engineering and Technology Management is designed with professionals in mind. UVU allows professionals to continue a career, support themselves financially, and gain a degree.
