For most programs, your residency status determines your tuition rate each semester according to the UVU Tuition Table. When you are admitted to UVU, your current residency status will be listed under your name on myUVU. Residency statuses are governed by the Utah residency policy R512‑4.
The Admissions application will ask a series of questions to determine your initial residency status.
After you’re admitted to UVU, your acceptance letter will contain your initial residency status. If you are already admitted, you can find your current residency status listed under your name on myUVU. What does your residency status mean? Learn more.
If you would like to change your initial residency designation, select which status you are applying for below. Residency change applications must be submitted by the deadline for the semester you are applying for.
If you live in Utah and are a U.S. Citizen or have applied for or been granted a qualifying immigration status.
If you live in Utah and are a qualifying undocumented immigrant or hold a valid non-immigrant visa.
If you live outside of Utah and are attending UVU 100% online.
If you are a qualifying military affiliated student.
If your residency status is more specific, such as state services recipients, American Indians from tribes with lands in Utah, Job Corps participants, citizens of freely associated states, and more.
Once you have completed your residency application and submitted your documentation, you will receive an email through myUVU to confirm your request. You can check the status of your residency application by logging back into the residency application portal.

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is for students who are residents of specific western states. Time spent in Utah while receiving a WUE does not count towards establishing residency for tuition purposes. Compare which option is right for you.
UVU’s tuition payment plan allows students to pay for their tuition and fees over the semester with three payment installments. Payment installments are based on the amount you owe for tuition and fees.
