America Reads
In order to receive federal funds each college must have an outreach program in the community. UVU’s designated outreach program is the America Reads program. Currently some 28 work-study students are serving hundreds of low income elementary students in our region who need help mastering basic reading and math skills.Testimonials for College Initiative
"The Partnership Office at UVU helped me for four years while I attended school there. When I started my schooling I was a single mother of 8 children. I was so overwhelmed starting college at an older age. The Partnership office helped me get tutoring for the classes that I needed help with. I was given the best tutors to work with me and they all helped me in my goal to graduation. I couldn’t have done it without them!"-Joan
One Autistic student that we worked closely with has found success in the classroom as he has worked with teachers and counselors to get the accommodations that he needs for his disability. His parents never dreamed of the possibility of his surviving college, but thus far, he has!

I had the hardest time passing my math class at UVU. When I was taking it for the third time I was directed to the Partnership office where I was given a private tutor. My tutor worked with me three times a week for the semester and it paid off because I passed my math class!

The counselors at the Partnership have helped me so much. Each semester I go to them because I need a tutor for my math class. The first time I went there they gave me the best tutor and now I request that she be my tutor every semester as I work through all my math classes.
