3-Day Summer "Survivor" Program
August
All incoming freshmen minority students are invited to attend a four-day minority-focused orientation program. Experimental team exercises, cultural, academic, diversity-coping, motivational, career planning, and UVU resource workshops are offered in a fear-free, informal environment. All incoming minority students are invited. Receipients of UVU's Abe Lincoln scholarship and Cultural Diversity scholarship are required to attend. Polynesian Legacy Dance Company Performance & Grand Luau

The daytime Polynesian high school conference consists of workshops and seminars enriching students and the community on the value of higher education and Polynesian culture. We offer an evening "Grand Luau" in the UVU Quad (center of campus), complete with a gourmet island menu and spectacular, exotic entertainment featuring all of Polynesia.

Open House

All new students are encouraged to attend an Open House each semsester to become familiar with the Multicultural Center and the resources available to them. Attendees meet other students, gain information about ethnic clubs, have a place to study, use computers, access UVU resources, and begin to bond with UVU, making it more likely they will stay.

Latino Performance ~Debut of Legacy Latino

An evening event with dance performances capturing the beauty and excitement of native Latino culture. This is the debut of Legacy Latino, modeled after the Polynesian Legacy Dance Company.

Native American POW WOW
November 20-21
Held in the UVU Ballroom, the daytime Native American high school conference consists of workshops and seminars educating students and the community on the value of higher education and Native American culture. An evening POW WOW, complete with entertainment, food, and crafts highlights the week's events. Community involvement brings the strength and beauty of America's indiginous people to UVU.

The daytime Latino high school conference consists of workshops and seminars enriching students and the community on the value of higher education and Hispanic/Latino seminars enriching students and the community on the value of higher education and the Hispanic/Latino culture.

Mr. & Miss UVU International Pageant
February
Male and female students representing cultures of the world are encouraged to enter a contest celebrating global awareness. These students present an educational view of their culture, perform ethnic entertainment and work to enrich the respect for and understanding of global contributions, challenges, and relationships.
Buffalo Dinner
February 7th
This evening event is hosted by the Utah Valley University Multicultural Center and the Native Sun Club.  A savory dinner is prepared and served by the UVU Culinary Arts Institute which includes Buffalo Roast with Brown Sauce, Wild Rice, Cherokee Hukleberry Bread, Lenape Pumpkin Soup, and Pinon & Pear Frangipane Tart with Prickly Pear Coulis.  All proceeds go towards the Native Sun Club Scholarship Fund.

African American Conference

This conference consists of workshops and seminars enriching students and the community about the value of higher education and African, Caribbean, and African American culture. In a partnership with students from UVU's Black Student Union and around campus, an evening event will be sponsored to celebrate the rich variety of african cultures that exist around the world.

We offer an evening of a "Polynesian Panorama" in the Ragan Theater as a special spring event, celebrating and welcoming the warmth of the changing seasons.

Latin American Celebration
Utah Valley University is proud to host the 1st Annual Celebración Latinoamericana: La Puerta al Exito (The Door to Success) in the UVU Student Center Grand Ballroom on Tuesday, March 18, 2010. This event will highlight various forms of achievement of our Latino youth and community members. Dinner will be served between 5:00-7:30. Traditional Latin American Entertainment will be presented from 6:00-7:00 followed by the Achiever’s Program from 7:00-8:15 where scholarships, community awards, and certificates of achievement will be presented (as well as prizes for audience members). College and community booths will be ready to provide information to participants about Utah Valley University departments as well our community resources. We will conclude the evening with a dance and Information Booth Walk from 8:30-9:30.

Ticket prices: 3 and under are free, 4-11 are $3.00 each, 12 and older are $4.00 each. Purchase tickets at: Any Utah Community Credit Union (Orem and Provo Branches), Centro Hispano (819 S. 200 W. in Provo), Utah Valley University Campus Connection.

All proceeds will go towards the Utah Valley University Hispanic Education Scholarship Fund. We welcome all educators, local and state leaders, business owners and most importantly students and their families to join with us in recognizing the success of our Latino students and other role models.

Spring Cultural Week Celebration

A week long celebration featuring primary ethnic cultures will culminate with a multicultural pageant. Multicultural awards, dance and song contests are featured. Education, entertainment, food, crafts, and exciting world-wide influences will be presented. Many community groups and individuals participate, strengthening ethnic community and UVU relationships.
